In a flash I have my New Year's resolution...aim higher.

The last day of a year. Time for reflection. Time for anticipation. Time for resolution. Today's quote comes from Alfie with Jude Law. I'm not a fan of the movie, however, I like the line (even if not the reason for the delivery). Aim higher - yes, we are all capable of this! Even if we may not be able to lose those 10 or 50 pounds, we may not get everything organized, we may not get totally out of debt, but we can at least AIM HIGHER! If we genuinely attempt to better our situation we can usually succeed in at least some improvement from where we started.

Watching - On Moonlight Bay (1951)
Doris Day & Gordon MacRae in a romantic comedy set during WWI.
Sweet, funny, and innocent.

Reading -
Cover of Night by Linda Howard

She is an author that grabs me right away. The first time I read one of her books - Mr. Perfect - I immediately read through all of her published books at the time. Fortunately, most successful writers continue writing, and this is a pretty new publication. So far, so good!

Activities -

Church in the late morning - just have to like a church that offers a service at 8:30 am for early people, but also an 11:30 for those not so inclined. Baptism service today. Interesting.
Football all afternoon and evening. Dallas lost - unhappy men in the house. Cincinnati lost - happy men in the house!

Quotable -

Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Well, I think I am starting to figure this whole blog thing out. So, my quote of the day reflects my mood as I undertake the world of bloggster.

Watching - Monarch of the Glen Series 1, Episode 1
After adjusting to the Scottish brogue, I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode and look forward to many more. This is the beautiful setting -

Reading - Motor Mouth by Janet Evanovich
She is such a fun writer. Improbable situations, but great characters.

Activities - Texas Longhorns on TV in the Alamo Bowl - beginning was frustrating for Derek. However, good things came at the end! Longhorns 26 - Iowa 24!

I've been online searching for movies to watch over the winter months. I've requested a lot from the library - my favorite way to see a multitude of movies for free. I like to get recommendations from other movie watchers, and I typically do that through online forums.

Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.

Today's quote from Dead Poet's Society fits my mindset currently. I've been thinking about starting a blog for over a year. Today I finally decided I just have to seize the day!

I have needed a gentle nudge to help me keep track of movies watched, books read, activities pursued and quotable moments from our lives. In picking my webaddress, I am committing myself to making a daily entry - 365 days a year.

So, away we go!
